Releases of the week (Week 17)

By: alucard - Format: Blu-ray

One of the most anticipated Blu-ray titles of the year is being released

Avatar passed 2 billion dollars in earnings when it was airing in the theatres worldwide. Now it has arrived on Blu-ray and it looks like it will a big success in the home theatres as well.

The film takes place on the exotic moon called Pandora. Here lives three meters tall, blue, humanoid creatures, called Na'vi. This world has imaginative landscapes, creatures and unknown plants. Humans can not breathe the pandorian air, so they develop genetic hybrids of humans, called avatars, which can be controlled through an emotional connection. Avatar is a story of the former soldier, Jack, who as his brothers' avatar explores the wondrous world of Pandora.

James Cameron's Avatar arrives on Blu-ray with the theatrical cut, however it only features the movie, and it does not come with any special features.

In Saving Private Ryan is Captain John Miller being sent on a mission to find paratrooper Private James Ryan and bring him home safely. Ryan's three brothers have all been killed in action and the Brass want him returned to his family. He is fighting with his unit somewhere inland, but no-one knows where.
