In Steven Spielberg's War of the Worlds, based on H.G. Wells' famous novel from 1898, the Earth is invaded by three-legged war machines from space, bend on eradicating humanity. Ray Ferrier (Tom Cruise), a divorced dock worker, has his children staying with him when the first attacks occur. He now has to protect his children while they try to get to Boston, where his ex-wife lives.
Besides Tom Cruise the movie also stars Dakota Fanning and Tim Robbins and the musical score is delivered by none other than John Williams.
