Second Sight have announced the Blu-ray release of Picnic at Hanging Rock (The Director's Cut) on the 26th of July, priced at £19.99 RRP, and we now have information on some of the extras included.
On Valentine’s Day, 1900 a party of schoolgirls from Appleyard College, a girl's school in the Australian bush, took a trip to Hanging Rock near Mt. Macedon in the state of Victoria. Some of the party left the rest of the group and having climbed higher stopped to rest and fell asleep. They awoke as though still in a dream and silently ventured further through a passage in the imposing rock face. Some of the girls were never seen again.
Peter Weir's haunting and evocative Picnic at Hanging Rock became one of the first Australian films to reach an international audience and received both international acclaim and popularity.
The Blu-ray will have a new HD transfer, supervised by Peter Weir and features will include:
